In order to open up quests in the various Abyssea zones, one needs to max fame yet again. Fame works pretty much the exact same way as it does in starter cities, Jeuno, Norg, etc. Meaning, you find one repeatable quest and you spam it until you've reached max fame. Determining if you've reached max fame means you check with an NPC that spouts out something about your fame level.
In La Thiene Plateau, here's what you need to do as well as what you need:
Items:
2x Lambent Scales
~50x Willow Rod (or 50x Light Crystals if you can repair them, Woodworking 10)
Fame
Quest: Unbreak His Heart (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Unbreak_His_Heart)
Synopsis: Idiot keeps breaking his fishing rod.
Walkthrough:
I don't expect many of you to be able to free up 51 slots in your inventory, but if you can do so. It will save you some time. Buy as many Willow Rishing Rods as you can hold up to 50 and leave one space in your Gobbiebag open.
1. Enter Abyssea-La Theine
2. Get Visitant Status
3. Use Vertical Conflux 0 to warp to Conflux 4
4. Talk to Joulet, who is about 5 steps away from Conflux 4. He will give you a Broken Willow Fishing Rod.
5. Use Conflux 4 to warp to Conflux 6.
6. Trade Gallijaux one of the Willow Fishing Rods you purchased. (Reward 120 Cruor)
7. Use Conflux 6 to warp to Conflux 0.
8. Exit Abyssea using the maw.
9. Repeat 49 more times tossing the broken willow fishing rods along the way...
Things to note here:
If you have not purchased the Abyssite Key Items from the Cruor Prospector, you're going to lose about 30ish cruor per trip. If you have, you'll lose about 15 cruor per trip. Make sure you have a decent cruor supply.
Each trip, once you get it down, should take about 1-1.5 minutes. Be mindful of how fast you're doing this so you don't waste much time.
If you need an item to skill up woodworking to 10, you'll end up with 50 broken willow rods. If you're cheap and don't want to spend that much, go farm up a bunch of light crystals, buy one willow rod and then just cycle them out via repairing them.
Abyssite
You will need a minimum level of Fame 5 to start these quests.
1. Warp to Conflux 6.
2. Talk to Halver. This will start the quest Lost Memories (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Lost_Memories).
3. Farm up 2 Lambent Scales from the Farfadets around Conflux 4. As DRG/WHM and BLU/NIN, this took Kaelis and I about 30 mins to farm up 4.
4. Trade them to Halver to finish the quest.
5. Go to Conflux 1 and talk to Curilla. This will open An Eye for Revenge (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/An_Eye_for_Revenge).
6. Figure out a way to kill Lugarhoo. Buy a Filthy Gnole Claw and just hang onto it in the event we're in the area to pop it.
7. Talk to Curilla again to finish the quest if you got the key item "Lugarhoo's Eyeball". This will get you the Scarlett Abyssite of Furtherance, which will add +10 to your cruor stat bonuses. Yes it stacks with other "Furtherance" abyssites.
8. Warp to Conflux 6 and talk to Glenne. This will open the quest Out of Touch (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Out_of_Touch).
9. Find her idiot husband roaming all over the map. WIDESCAN IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED HERE.
10. Talk to Glenne again to finish the quest and get the Scarlett Abyssite of Kismet. This abyssite will help build your azure lights to cap faster. Meaning you spend less time worrying about magic kills and going for speed kills.
The NPC to check your fame is across from the Cruor Surveyor. His name is Namonutice. His reponses to you are:
Level 1:
Hmm... <Name>, you say? No, never heard of that name. But do good for the survivors, and they shall come to know you. Once you have their trust, they will more readily turn to your help. Just keep your head down, and your day shall come.
Level 2:
<Name>...? Hmm... I might have heard that name before. Then again, maybe not. You are not yet famous. Keep your nose to the grindstone and do your part for the people. Soon, they will know you better!
Level 3:
Ah, <Name>. That is a name I often hear. People speak well of you! Your deeds for the folk battling here have earned you much honor.
Level 4:
<Name>! You have become well known in these parts! I hear much of your accomplishments. Keep up the good work, and greatness lies in your future.
Level 5:
Ah, <Name>. You are famous among the community of survivors! Of you no ill is spoken. Give to the community and it will give to you, no?
Level 6 (max):
≺Name≻! I would venture that most who've taken refuge in the plateau have heard your name! And your reputation sparkles. Indeed I am proud of you. And to think I first knew you when first you came to us!
Do the quest, then do the other quests it opens up. The key items you can get for having max fame will help the team remain in Abyssea for longer periods of time and reap better rewards.
